Problem with USB extractor
« on: March 14, 2010, 12:37:22 AM »
I've just received the Connectivity Kit V3... I did so smoothly until the extracting key section... I spent over two hours to do that and I only received the msg :" BAD SERIAL DATA" from Jungle flasher (I also tried with xtractor reader also). My lite-on version is 7485C.

I did the "half tray open" correctly and put the usb extractor into R707 but it's not working at all although the computer detect the usb extractor and the xbox harddrive perfectly.

First power up the drive using half-tray open, then click DVDKey 32 tab. Select the correct I/O Port that your LiteOn 74850c is on. The Drive Properties will show up if the SATA cable is plugged into your motherboard and the CK3 is turned on. Don't use the Xtractor switch, use the one that came with your CK3 kit, since you will have to also place a checkmark under the "USB Xtractor Switch" in JungleFlasher if it isn't grayed out.

Make sure you use Diygadget's USB key extractor (not Xtractor Reader) and plug it into your USB port. Now while holding the probe needle down onto the R707 point on the PCB without accidentally moving it around, click the "DVDKey 32" button. The key should extract in the JungleFlasher log located at the bottom.

Make sure you are using an Intel/nVidia/AMD onboard chipset or VIA PCI SATA card. ATI might not work. If you are using a VIA PCI card, then remove the drivers. If already removed, then install the VIA drivers that came with the packaging.

I also purchased the PCI card too. My computer detected the xbox hard drive and the usb extractor from the kit perfectly. However, I was confused about which point in the R707 i should put the extractor into because it has one hole and two pins. I tried the bottom pin and the pin so many times but it did not work. I tried to do following your instruction 3 times but it still not working at all.

These are the correct location of R707 point.

There are also tutorials on Tiaowiki for your USB extractor I guess keep trying all the contact points and clicking on DVDKey32 button in the DVDKey32 tab until it extracts your key in the log. Don't forget it must show up your drive properties for your Liteon 74850c first.

Try using the latest JungleFlasher http://jungleflasher.net/downloads.html V0.1.72 beta (101). It has built-in PortIO32 drivers for 64-bit and 32-bit Windows.

Also, the CK3 kit is supposed to detect the Xbox DVD drive and not the "Xbox hard drive".

Make sure you plug in the SATA cable into your VIA PCI card instead. If no luck, try onboard.

The drive properties and com port are correct, but i could not extract the key... i tried the new version you gave above but it's same thing. All thing are connected perfectly but I could not extract the key. I did following the tutorials step by step. I've done this thing for 6 hours but have not done it yet.

Can you get the same error message without using the USB extractor after clicking the DVDKey32 button?

If you can, then either you are not touching the proper spot for the R707 point (you must keep holding it down when you press the "DVDKey32" button). Or the USB Extractor probe is bad. Maybe check to see if the USB extractor needle can make communication with an electronic device around in your house first.

I did it so many time. I tried to move around the R707 point to get the key but I could not. Maybe the usb extractor did not work perfectly. I guess.

Did you also select the COM port for your USB extractor in JungleFlasher? You selected the I/O port, now how about the COM port?

Is USB Xtractor Switch grayed out?

I did choose the right port for the com port. All information needed to extract the key are correct but it still not working at all.
