Why you need to spoof the firmware

You need a modified firmware to play backups.

It is almost impossible to read the original firmware of your Lite-on DVD drive. However a group of people indeed found a way to get the firmware from Lite-on DVD drive. Unfortunately, each drive's firmware is different. It contains a special key and identification string, these two strings have to match the strings in you XBOX 360's core system, otherwise, it won't play any games.

So, spoofing firmware means injecting these key and identification string into the modified firmware, so after you flash the spoofed firmware to your Lite-on DVD drive, you will be able to play original games and backup games.

What do you need to spoof the firmware

You need the following tools/softwares to spoof the firmware:

  1. Key, identification and inquiry bin files from your factory original Lite-on DVD drive. If you don't have them please follow Xbox 360 Lite On DVD Key Dumping to get the files
  2. You must install PortIO32 drivers. For vista users, please follow the instruction [here] to install PortIO32.
  3. You need .NET framework. Download from [here] and install it.
